Gently Used Toy Collection
This was our biggest project of the year! We cleaned out our playrooms before Santa arrived and collected 1,253 gently used toys for children in need. The toys were donated to Grace Haven, a free store in Lancaster, Ohio benefiting those in need and single women recovering from addiction.
Toys for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking and Perry County
We collected over 100 new toys to create a toy bank for the holidays and for children's birthdays throughout the year.
Community Service Holiday Party
Our main social event of the year! Hosted by the four Templin children, Sending Hope members celebrated the holidays with snacks, crafts, and cards made with Cards of Joy for local nursing homes — and by making new friends. Cozy pajamas were highly encouraged!
Independent Family Adoption
Through the generosity of our community, Sending Hope independently adopted local families for the holidays, ensuring children woke up to gifts and families felt the warmth and support of their community.
Charity Newsies Fairfield County
Sending Hope was thrilled to support the Fairfield County Charity Newsies in their annual paper sale and food boxes fighting food insecurity. We LOVE the Newsies!
Thanksgiving Foster Care Clothes Closet
We donated 36 giant bags of new and used clothing of all sizes, distributed during a Thanksgiving dinner to local foster families and youth newly graduated from the foster care system.
Thanksgiving Foster Care Alumni Meal
Sending Hope members volunteered their time to serve Thanksgiving dinner to local young adults newly graduated from the foster care system in central Ohio.
Newark Homeless Outreach Thanksgiving Luncheon
Sending Hope members volunteered both their time and food to serve over 120 local homeless individuals with the Newark Homeless Outreach — completing over 200 donated food items with the organization throughout 2023.
Providing Emergency Assistance
Sending Hope provided emergency assistance — urgently needed items and clothing — to a homeless postpartum immigrant mother and her newborn son, a woman following a devastating house fire, and three young children needing winter clothing.
Private Trick-or-Treat for a Critically Ill Child
Ten-year-old Emily has been in and out of the hospital since her liver transplant in 2022. Because her treatment forces her to miss childhood events like trick-or-treat, Sending Hope made Emily and her brother a private trick-or-treat complete with over 20 volunteering families, decorated cars, and dozens of loving new friends!
Clothing and Feeding the Homeless
Sending Hope partnered with the Newark Homeless Outreach to prepare for the winter months ahead. Over 100 coats, new gloves, and blankets were collected for local people experiencing homelessness.
Community Service Fall Party
Hosted by the four Templin children, Sending Hope members welcomed fall at this fun social and community service event! Hotdogs and s'mores were roasted with new friends, homemade cards and toiletry bags were created by children, and tons of fall fun was had outdoors — there were even glowsticks involved!
Toiletry Bags and Food for Local Homeless
Sending Hope members collected over fifty different types of items and made toiletry bags hand-delivered by the Templin children to local individuals requesting assistance through the Newark Homeless Outreach. The bags contained over 1,000 items!
Back to School Assistance
August was all about the return to school! Sending Hope members gathered curriculum resources needed for an intervention teacher and came together to replace a large number of teaching supplies stolen from a local kindergarten classroom.
Emergency Child Custody
Sending Hope provided emergency assistance — clothing, diapers, toys, and baby gear — to a woman gaining emergency custody of an infant and toddler.
Community Service Summer Party
Hosted by the four Templin children, Sending Hope members celebrated the Fourth of July at the Templin Freedom Fest! Independence Day was celebrated in style with lots of food, friends, and fireworks — and over 200 lbs of food were collected for the Licking County Food Bank.
Toys for Foster Care
Sending Hope members gathered together to collect new toys for two little boys who had their toys stolen while in foster care.
